Overlays to quickly see useful information
Right now it's hard to keep track of what's going on in your settlement other than checking buildings manually; I think informational overlays that color buildings/vehicles/transports based on certain criteria would really help. I'm thinking shade the world a flat color and then color each entity flat from blue to red based on whatever the value is (e.g. red = 0% maintenance stored, purple = 50%, blue = 100% maintenance stored). The colors are arbitrary, but you get the idea. Something like this would allow the game to keep a realistic style while allowing quick checks of important statistics.
Potential overlays:
Fullness (storage, building buffers, truck or transport fullness)
Throughput/uptime averages (see https://ideas.captain-of-industry.com/suggestions/221461/show-average-uptimesthroughputs-on-buildings-and-transports)
Maintenance consumption rates/Maintenance buffered
Power consumption
Workers
Each of these could have various scales or filters (e.g. fullness of food only).

YandersenI think status icons on top would be better. Factorio, btw, shows stuff when alt key pressed. And fun fact, but noone plays without it on. ;) So yeah, info is needed, at least as status icons.

synicalA few of these could be like Factorio alt mode, but coloring might work better if you have higher densities; just focus on coloring instead of a sea of icons. Plus I think it would look neat :P

TenderSausageIn the real world, unless you have a ton of money to buy and bring in current tech or have a robust existing infrastructure, you would likely be going around from cell to cell in production to collect data, and then taking time to analyze the data and create reports. In the game, it makes sense to have dashboards like this unlocked with the "Datacenter" upgrade in the tech tree since it creates the equivalent real-world infra needed to collect and process remote data in production facilities. Before that, it's a QOL add to the game, but not technically feasible, so you kind of have to pick if you want the game to be "more real" or "more fun".

OarsThese would be awesome to make logistics planning/issues more actionable.
Truck heat maps
Productivity overlays
Pollution
Gas consumption -

MrJoshuaJust posted this in ideas channel, but I see its already here.
What is each machine crafting or storage holding?
What is the Build/Maintenance/Etc priority for everything?
What is the Import/Export priority for each?
Storage capacity, how full are things?
Maybe a a maintenance one for how fixed/broke things are.
Could also put the truck navigation overlay in there too as it's already doing exactly what this idea is.
