Have research (building) cost recently unlocked resources
Sometimes I struggle with my motivation to continue playing, since I see no "direct" goal to work towards. While playing other factory simulations I more often have the feeling of progress, because I have to invest recently researched items to progress.
My Idea would be to use items and resources that are unlocked while researching, in addition of unity, to research following nodes and/or use items unlocked in one tier to build or research the next tier of research building.

fjeske67I completely agree, we're doing things just to keep busy without really knowing why we're doing them. Tiers like Satisfactory has helps guide us on getting particular things done, even if that game itself is not finished. Also monuments in The Colonists.
It'll introduce gamification of the production process like being able to get to goals in shortest times, least resources, etc. It is a game, after all.
