Multi Islands Coal/Oilrig/so on

I know there is gonna be alot of optimizations but what do you guys think about multi islands you can manage even. Instead of a coal mine , you just get a tiny island where you have to ship your trucks and so on. Everything can be the same just that you can transfer stuff from island to island with the cargoships. The oilrig could even be a 3d modell where you can build attachments to give it a lil bit more flavour.
Just an idea though . Its probably also gonna be qute tough to work on. But maybe keep it in the head and in a year or two maybe its more reasonable. But thats definitly a feature which would spice up the game even more. ^.^

Love the idea.
Like you said, have a small island with e.g. just oil (and probably trees as foliage).
You have to ship over the resources to build the structures.
Then cargo ships do their stuff just like they do now.

Was about to post below when i saw this post, so I just comment and vote up ;) :

Instead of the current world mines, build your own mine sites on islands.

1. Travel equipment, prefabs, fuel, machine repair packs (so you dont need to build all the logistics on every Island, just on main) with boats.
- Or instead of point 1, use global resources ( and maybe some boat logistics with it )
2. Transport the raw goods back.

Optional when depleted, random spawn new island points to go to and delete that island when you are done.
