Renewable trees.
Having the ability to dedicate a farm to planting trees would be really helpful. Should you run out of coal at a critical moment, then you would have your backup trees to help lessen the issue.

YandersenI'd rather suggest trees being a crop avail to be grown on non-irrigated farms only.

lightninggrowing tree instead of random spawning is better choice of the two.

L32Unnecesarry feature, to be honest. It will somewhat make You Shall Not Pass map easier. And once you unlock an unlimited sawmill node, wood is fixed forever.

rolarAn infinite source of fuel? Definitely not.
If it's just a tree as a resource - maybe. -

BattlebirdI still would like to be able to plant trees just to make the empty islands look a bit better again.

DancZerhaving trees on the island should have benefit. eg.: trees around households should give some bonuses. overall tree cound should decrease co2 and dust air pollution.
It should work similar way like the excavation vs dumping. currently we can select trees for harvest. we should have another marker for tree planting. I would allow if from the beginning, because trees should grow really slow. having ground water should increase the growth rate. -

AZThere are such thing as tree farms as well. So, I think we should be able to designate an area for planting trees, but also beable to plant single/groups of trees in random areas just so the Island doesn't look like a flat barren landscape all over. Along with roads (while not planned) could make islands look much better than just a giant blob of buildings.

GrzegorzWhile planting trees is a good idea in general. It should take minimum 50 years before those are 'harvestable'

NoelThere is no need for renewable trees in this game. I really do not understand why it is being implemented

Huggy BearNo need to add trees, there are ample on each map ,silly idea.
There are far better items to add
Edge scrolling for one
Mod support
Animals on islands for food and trade
A population that you can see working on sites
As time goes on and more items are added the replay value of the game diminish.... -

DraazYo disparaging the idea of trees being renewable, however they are good as a backup for coal and other products if you run out or you cannot run trade items. If you are unlucky and cannot find a sawmill, then you may not be able to replenish your need for wood

KyrrosI came to request the same feature, but more for cosmetic purposes than economic ones. Sometimes there a small cluster of trees that I'd just like to be able to move out of the way, especially ones near residential buildings - people like trees, no?
Obviously, being able to plant trees could be somehow be used as an exploit if not careful about implementation.
I think being able to 'plant' a tree at the same cost of the amount of wood you would get from harvesting it would strike a nice balance. This would allow players to basically uproot trees and replant them elsewhere for no gain or loss (therefore no exploit).
Having a tree farm would also be a nice addition, and give an additional, even if only small, benefit and flexibility if a Sawmill island is not found early on.
Since trees leave behind 'forest ground' when removed, building a tree farm on such 'forest ground' might also gain a bonus of some kind since trees were already there beforehand.
