Green Energy
• Solarpower (if/when day/night cycle is added)
• Windpower (if weather is added)
• Batteries to store power when it is night or low wind
• Biogas from digestate
• Biodiesel from wood

PTTGSolar is on the roadmap, and presumably they'll include storage as part of the cycle (nights are too short to simulate on the current system). The other ideas seem really good, though.

YandersenPlaying either on pause or on 3X speed I can hardly imagine day/night cycling in CoI blend in smoothly. So for all-wanted solar power, may I propose a thermal solar power alternative? Thermal solar panels heat up water into steam by passing it through a pipe running inside the focus of parabolic aluminum mirror concentrating sunrays on it. So to not go into day/night cycling mechanic, the output of thermal solar devices may just depend on the weather (sunny - max throughput, cloudy - min throughput, rainy - no output).
For the inspiration, see this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concentrated_solar_power
As for energy storage - Thermal energy storage is a thing also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_energy_storage
In particular, molten salt thermal storages go along with green power sources.
So no need for electrical batteries and extra material production chains associated with them, imo. The options above are not so heavy on new materials for the game. -

RyDThere is also tidal power. Considering we are on an island, it seems logical. Maintenance would be relatively high and output inconsistent, though tidally predictable. Perhaps a coastal building mechanic like a cargo pier.

AthanAlso new technologies as wave power generators, offshore wind power, Hydro power (that means probably rivers) or as gravity fed batteries (that means to dumb water or liquids in pits and cliff pipes or underground pipes)

Jeru9694The funny thing is, none of this is green! The greenest power the world has is nuclear at the moment and we got that in-game. Oh, I see someone has mentioned Hydropower but would we not need flowing water for that? And as far as green goes hydro would be a great contender except for many big hydro plants around the world have been ecological disasters for areas downriver. Yes this is just a game but this type of thing normalises the untruths as truth. Just my opinion.
