Building Dams and Better Water Transport
Buildable a Dams over rivers that would lead out to the ocean. The Dams would provide electricity and could hold water or any other liquid that can be deposited with a liquid dump Brine, drinking water, etc, within them. A new pump would also be needed that just sucks up whatever is held in the dam's reservoir. Additionally if the water simulation is upgraded to have gravity on the world, (not necessarily within pipes, while it could also be added it would create fluid physics for pipes which tends to be pain for most players, but could be good for difficulty). Adding waterfalls to maps that flow out to the ocean would provide a way to get drinking water and allow for dams to be built. The waterfalls would work a little like both rain and ground water. When it rains the around of water that comes down the waterfall would increase, however if dammed it could cause the water to overflow or that dam to break if not released. You could also over drain a dam's reservoir of water.

Dynamic water physics was requested many times, but that would require many changes and more CPU. -

DeclanDoes not necessarily need to be implemented with a fluid physics simulation. Could just be a canned animation (or set of) that plays out when the dam is filling/emptying. Could use them like in real life where excess generation of energy causes the dam storage to fill (using pumps) either from the sea or from a second, lower, reservoir, and then they release water to generate energy to meet demand as necessary.
