The real world is advancing so I thought I'd bring up some tech that could be added (maybe as DLC)
I don't know the rules about posting links so I'll just suggest google search terms instead.
1) Off-shore wind farms (maybe in tandem with 'blank' or unexploited locations on the world map) - require large numbers of parts to construct and deliveries of parts to maintain. A late game resource sink and space saver.
2) Upgrading steam turbines with supercritical CO2 turbines. To serve as a late game efficiency boost. China just announced one of these at an industrial (steel) plant. search "China supercritical co2 turbine".
3) Fusion is the obvious 'near future sci-fi' tech. The UK has a project running now to deliver a prototype fusion power plant (note: an actual power plant, not just a reactor) by 2040. Search "UK STEP fusion"
4) Molten salt nuclear reactors. Copenhagen Atomics has a development program running now and China has a reactor/powerplant in operation.
5) Vertical farming. Could serve as late-game high efficiency space saving tech.

The FBRs are molten salt reactors and already in the game. The idea of wind turbine farms on the world map as a kind of world mine for electricity is interesting tho.
