Allow off grid placement for rail crossings
Given the flexibility with which rails can be placed, it would be nice if rail crossings (all variants and sub components) could be placed "off grid" so they could go on any sufficiently long section of track. Main usage (at least for me) would be a diagonal rail running next to a quarry. Having the crossings able to do this would permit shorter vehcile paths in many cases and simplify rail layout by not having to place an on grid, orthagonal section just for a crossing.

Pathfinding of vehicles works on grid. There could be diagonal crossing (as separated building), but it would have be bigger to accomodate continuous paths through it. If you can, try to avoid rail crossings, as they slow down trains and vehicles. You can use elevated rails, or move them farther from quary to not need vehicles to cross them. -

FevixThey wouldn't necessarily have to be bigger. They don't really NEED to be perpendicular to the track, they can easily remain on the grid for the road segment.
Something like -/- where the --- is the road
